WHO AM I

My love for watercolor is a gift from God— to glorify Him and honor my country. Through my art, I hope to show the world the excellence of Filipino women and the beauty of our culture.

MY CREATIVE JOURNEY
I’m Carina Alejandrino Rayo, though in the Philippine art community, I’m better known as Jinky Rayo. I’m a watercolor artist from Mindanao and have been painting since 2012. I’ve always believed my passion for watercolor is a gift from God, meant to glorify Him and honor my country.
My artwork often highlights landscapes from unique perspectives with rich, vibrant colors. I also enjoy painting still life, focusing on florals and ornamental pieces that celebrate Filipino culture and the warmth of our traditions. Born and raised in Davao, I graduated high school at the University of Southeastern Philippines in Obrero and earned my Architecture degree from the University of Mindanao.
Before becoming a full-time artist and homemaker, I worked with architectural firms and construction companies. As a wife and mother of two grown sons, my journey into art has been profoundly personal. Watercolor allows me to express my innermost feelings, whether they reflect stillness, joy, or longing.
Since 2015, my works have been showcased internationally—in the USA, Russia, Italy, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Greece, Switzerland, and more. I’ve earned awards from IWS Singapore and IWS France Pyrénées and, for three consecutive years, was honored by IFAM Malaysia’s International Competition and Exhibition. I’ve held four solo exhibitions and participated in over 90 group exhibits locally and abroad.
I’m also a founding member and former president of the Philippine Guild of Watercolorists and the International Watercolor Society of the Philippines. Through all of this, I hold onto a deep hope: that my art will showcase the excellence of Filipino women and the beauty of our culture—and that it will always point back to the One who blessed me with this gift.
